The hour balance starts every year on 1 January with the carry-over entered in the person's yearly settings for that year, separately per time type: time with children/administration, preparation time (Verfügungszeit), irregular preparation time and management time (Leitungszeit). Plus and minus hours are possible.
No automatic carry-over
KiDig does not carry the balance over on its own. In the yearly settings, in the expandable section "Carry over or enter last year's hour balance", the button "Carry over hours and remaining leave and save" takes last year's December balance per time type as a fixed value, together with the remaining leave.
- If anything in the previous year changes afterwards (times added, contract corrected), the carry-over is no longer right. Then carry over again.
- For hours from before KiDig, enter the balance by hand and save with "Save year settings".
- If last year's remaining leave is negative, the button carries over 0 days of leave; the hours are saved anyway.
Management time
Management time is carried over too if the person had a contract as head or deputy head, or a contract with management hours, in the previous year. Otherwise the button leaves any existing management-time carry-over unchanged. Carry-over, payout and write-off work for management time like for the other time types.
What changes the balance afterwards
- Paying out and writing off per month, see Paying out or writing off hours.
- A monthly limit in the contract also cuts a high carry-over, already in the first month of the year, see Hour limits per day and per month.
Everything to enter at the turn of the year is in Setting up a new year.
